New High Pay: $33,272 – $58,226 The Challenge We are looking for four experienced transportation workers to join the Franklin County Maintenance team. In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, repairs and construction on state-maintained roads and roadside terrain. Install traffic and erosion control devices and grade rights-of-way. Grade roads. Mechanically maintain unpaved roads. Perform pavement repairs. Install pipes and other drainage work. Inspects contract work and supervises manual labor operations. Performs emergency response such as traffic accident cleanup, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies. Operates equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, tandem dump trucks, front end loaders, tractor trailers, motor graders, rollers, and other heavy machinery. Performs flagging duties to safely direct traffic in work zones. What you need to apply: Moderate work zone safety knowledge and experience with traffic control equipment. Experience in one or more of the following: shoulder and ditch maintenance, plumbing equipment, or asphalt repair. Experience with snow and ice removal operations. Experience operating two or more of the following: backhoes, tandem dump trucks, motor graders, front end loaders, forklifts, force feed loaders, asphalt distributors, crack sealing machines, track excavators, skid steers, or sweepers. Class A commercial driver’s license with N endorsement and the ability to safely operate a Class A motor vehicle. (If you don’t have them, we encourage you to apply. You can get them through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire!)Ability to receive, deliver and act on effective written and verbal communications. Ability to perform essential functions during long hours of physical work, operating vibrating equipment and in extremely hot and/or cold weather. Agility to climb, turn and traverse steep and uneven terrain. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds. Safety-toed shoes. Notes Emergency callbacks and overnight shifts may be scheduled during inclement weather or other extreme conditions. Work may be required during unusual work hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted and employers will review any alcohol/drug abuse within the past three years.
