Basic Job Function: In this role, you are responsible for designing all aspects of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, stability braces, and more. This is included in your obligations, but is not limited to: – Creative Design: Develop safe and economical structures that meet the requirements of your project while adhering to industry code and standards. Each project is unique! Technical Analysis: Uses proprietary software for frame, secondary, brace, crane, mezzanine and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity and performance. – Collaborative approach: Work closely with detailed departments and other team members to effectively communicate design requirements and ensure seamless project execution. – Monitoring: Check the structural drawing to confirm accuracy. • Continuous learning: embrace opportunities to grow and develop as engineers, work with a variety of teams across the department to find innovative solutions and explore unique career paths within the organization. Minimum qualification: – Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET-certified School. • Skilled oral and written communication in English. – Strong knowledge of structural building standards: IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE7, AISI, etc. – Structural Engineer (SE) registration with the competent ability to be approved in the state of Illinois. Priority Qualifications: – A background in engineering in the pre-designed metal construction industry. – Proficiency using some type of metal architectural design software package.
