A typical day in the life:
- Designs, conducts and coordinates advanced transportation studies.
- Develop a research proposal and work plan detailing the methods and goals of your research project.
- Work with the Technical Advisory Group to develop projects and review progress.
- Analyze data to arrive at appropriate engineering conclusions.
- Coordinate the development of contracts and agreements with external partners.
- Monitor and review the progress of ongoing studies conducted under contract.
- Coordinate the work of all parties involved in the site evaluation of the project.
- Disseminate research findings and implementation to internal and external partners.
- Stay up to date on current practices and research findings from other agencies.
- Conducts and oversees new product, construction and maintenance evaluations.
- Hybrid working options are available, with you working in an office environment twice a month with occasional limited overnight travel required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.
NoteIf registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in Oregon within six months of employment.

- Proven track record in academic writing, writing published research papers, and preparing technical reports.
- Proven experience implementing new engineering specifications and standards.
- Structural engineering with emphasis on some aspects of transportation-related design, construction, or structural testing.
- Demonstrated experience in scientific research and application of scientific methods to engineering problems.
