PEG’s residential electrical designers have the opportunity to design electrical systems for residential, multifamily, and small commercial projects using industry-leading modeling software. This position requires someone with in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and experience in the construction industry. PEG specializes in green architecture and design, which we incorporate into each project. We are looking for self-motivated, detail-oriented, and hard-working individuals to join our dynamic team. Role Location: This position is based at our headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, with the option of a hybrid remote/office work schedule and, with prior approval from management, a full-time remote work schedule upon completion. You can choose. Onboard new employees as directed by their immediate supervisor. Basic Functions: Create one-line diagrams with limited input from the engineer Respond to project RFIs and accurately review submittals with limited input Solve electrical system installation problems – Solve problems Create a floor plan showing electrical equipment layouts, circuits Review and create electrical load and panel schedule calculations Create specification schedules for electrical equipment and materials Fire alarm system on floor plan place Select and schedule equipment with limited supervision from senior staff Apply risk management procedures daily to understand the work plan to minimize risk and align the design process to available time on the work plan Manage: Meet with contractors during and after the design process, as necessary; Monitor deliverables sent to and from clients; Oversee and facilitate coordination between disciplines; Communicate with operations, owners, and customers; Interface with subcontractors to discuss impact of work and resolution of issues Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related work experience required EIT (Engineer in Training) certification a plus PE license not required, but a plus At least 3 years of relevant qualification Single-family, 3-story Practical experience in designing townhouses, four-story townhouses, and multi-family residential buildings is required. Experience with small commercial projects such as tenant interiors, lounges, offices, restaurants, etc. is a plus. Additional Requirements: Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD MEP and Revit is required. COMCheck experience is a plus. Have good knowledge of NEC and other standards Understand and apply concepts such as voltage drop, conductor sizing, and harmonics Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines Excellent organizational and communication skills Highly motivated; Be well organized and show professional initiative Responsible for assigned work both independently and as part of a project team.
