Position Summary:
The Construction Coordinator will oversee the Construction Combine and maintain relationships with the local school district and CWI to provide opportunities for high school students to learn about construction careers through hands-on experience. The Construction Combine is a two-day event held at a local high school to partner with local contractors on community projects to teach basic construction skills. The Construction Combine is designed to fill current and projected skills gaps in the construction industry by providing high school students with hands-on training in basic construction skills. Inspired by the NFL Draft, the event allows trainees to demonstrate and learn new skills while engaging with local contractors. The program is intended to increase participants’ chances of finding employment in the construction industry. Responsibilities include presentations to school district leadership, planning the event, and managing tools, materials, and logistics.
This is a two-year grant-funded position. At the end of the grant period, CWI will evaluate the value and success of the program to determine if the position should continue to be funded through CWI’s Workforce Development. If the project is successful, the industry partner and CWI may continue to fund the construction combine.
