New High Salary: $79,151 – $85,237 Challenge We are seeking an entry-level Assistant Department Design-Build Engineer to join our project development team. In this role, you will help: Management project road design. Senior engineer who handles calculations, quantity estimates, and project costs. Comparison of quotes from private engineering companies. Verification of plans and review of submissions from private engineering firms. Cooperation with young engineers. and attend project meetings. What you bring: Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices. Experience reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts. Experience performing engineering analyzes and writing technical reports. Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Computer skills using iPad/Laptop, Microsoft Office, GeoPak, MicroStation, and Corridor Modeling. Ability to interact with the general public, local government agencies, Raleigh-based staff, and private engineering firms regarding the status and design aspects of highway projects within the department. Working knowledge of transportation design Compliant with AASHTO guidelines and NCDOT policies and procedures. Experience in reviewing/checking transportation plans and calculations. Ability to budget time and coordinate schedules with others. Agility to traverse steep and uneven terrain. Note: Registration as a professional engineer with the NC Engineers and Surveyors Examination Board may be required.
