Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Open Rank – Instructional (Engineering) ____________________________________________ Employer: Texas A&M University School of Engineering and Medicine Location: Houston, Texas Open Date: August 21, 2024 Position ID: 144885____________________________________________ Overview Texas A&M University The Faculty of Engineering and Medicine is seeking applications for the following: Depending on qualifications, the position of supervisory assistant professor, supervisory associate professor, or supervisory professor. This is a full-time, 11-month Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) appointment with a start date of AY24-25. The School of Engineering Medicine (SEM) is headquartered in Houston, Texas, adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, which has a rich clinical, research, and innovation ecosystem. SEM’s mission is to develop a new generation of skilled physicians. Engineers and innovators. These unique people are known as “doctors.” Students in the Engineering Medicine Program (ENMED) earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field. Graduates of the program earn a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Engineering degree with a focus on medical innovation. Graduates are expected to become practicing physicians equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to advance healthcare through innovation. Applicants will participate in all aspects of ENMED’s innovation activities, including (1) advising and mentoring students in innovation projects and entrepreneurship, and (2) promoting innovation. (3) Supervise student projects using various makerspaces, including the Engineering Innovation Center (EIC) focused on device development, the Computational Medicine Makerspace (CMMS) focused on AI, machine learning, data mining, and Includes Biologic Maker Space (BMS) work focused on cell and precision medicine platform technologies. Duties include: Teach graduate engineering courses within the ENMED program. These courses relate to the conceptualization, development, and commercialization of biomedical innovations that address unmet health needs, as well as the engineering principles underlying biomedical technologies. Serves as faculty advisor for student medical innovation projects. Services to the School of Engineering and Medicine (program development, program development, etc.). Continuously improving the quality of the educational environment Collaborating with medical school faculty to ensure a seamless blend of engineering and medical curricula Mentors Student qualifications Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related scientific field, and: It is as follows. Previous teaching experience and approach to learning Learner-centered active learning pedagogy, including case-based instruction and team-based learning Development and deployment of curriculum that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare field Experience History of effective collaboration with diverse clinical, teaching, and research faculty Excellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications Candidates with advanced degrees in both engineering and medicine and one or more of the following: Priority will be given.
