Photonics Solutions Engineers (PSEs) are key technical resources supporting our sales team in our technical sales efforts. With their technical expertise, PSEs also act as liaisons between customers and our engineering and manufacturing teams.
This role is located in Newton, NJ, but may be required to work at other Thorlabs locations from time to time.
Essential Job Functions This includes, but is not limited to:
- As part of a functional team aligned with Field Sales and Inside Sales, you will provide technical expertise during sales lead qualification and opportunity development.
- You will work directly with Thorlabs customers to understand their requirements for custom requests and communicate Thorlabs capabilities and technical services.
- You’ll work directly with our in-house engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure custom solutions meet customer needs.
- Opportunities to visit trade shows, customer sites and other Thorlabs global locations.

- Meets company standards regarding the quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis and performs all work-related tasks in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications
American
· Ability to work on ITAR related projects.
experience:
· Minimum 2 years experience with optics and optical systems required, approximately 4 years experience preferred.
· Technical sales or application support experience is ideal.
education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Physics, or related engineering field.
Expertise and skills:
- The attention to detail is superb.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Very organized.
- Intermediate level MS Office skills (especially Outlook and Excel), specialized skills in Excel, ERP/MRP systems, or CRM highly desirable.
- Able to work within time limits.
- Always eager to learn about new technologies, new applications, and newly developed products.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Travel for trade shows and customer visits: <25%.
